Build Your Own Wooden Arbor
Wooden arbor – Wooden garden arbors are often placed along the garden entrances and roads, with fining plants growing up the sides. A basic arbor consists of four vertical posts and an open roof construction. Gratings are often added to a trellis for decorative and functional purposes. Build your own wooden arbor, Place the four 4-by-4-by-48-inch cedar boards in a workspace. These are the arbor legs. Place a 4-by-4-by-48-inch cedar board between the end of each pair of legs. These are the cross pieces. This will form two triangular structures. Align a brace in the corner of each joint where the legs meet the crosspieces. Screw the brackets in place at each joint. Place the leg assemblies horizontally so that the transverse pieces are vertical. Place the joints parallel to one another about 24 inches apart. Adjust the 4-by-4-by-24-inch cedar boards between the joints at the top of the legs to connect them together.
Wooden arbor, Ask someone to help you raise the structure upright. Adjust a grid panel to cover the upper part of each side of the arbor. Nail the lattice to the legs. Space nails about six inches apart. Adjust the remaining lattice panel with the upper roof area of the arbor. Nail panel in place in the same way as the sides.
